This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods and inspection rules for rear marking plates intended for improving the visibility of heavy and long vehicles as well as slow-moving vehicles (SMV) and their trailers from behind.

\na) Heavy and long vehicles, including:
\n1) Articulated Classes II and III Category M vehicles;
\n2) Category N3 vehicles other than semi-trailer tractors;
\n3) Categories O1, O2 and O3 vehicles longer than 8.0m;
\n4) Category O4 vehicles;
\n5) Special motor vehicles retrofitted on a goods vehicle chassis.
\nb) SMV: Category M, N and O vehicles with maximum design speed not greater than 40 km\/h due to the construction.<\/p>\n
