This Standard specifies standard voltage values which are intended to serve
\n\uf02d as preferred values for the nominal voltage of power supply systems;
\n\uf02d as reference values for equipment and system design.
\nThis Standard applies to
\n\uf02d AC transmission, distribution and utilization systems and equipment for use in such systems with a standard frequency of 50 Hz having a nominal voltage above 220 V;
\n\uf02d AC and DC traction systems;
\n\uf02d Equipment having a rated voltage below 120V and a standard frequency of 50Hz (but not exclusively), and equipment having a DC voltage below 1,500V; such equipment covers batteries (from primary or secondary cells), other power supply devices (AC or DC), electrical equipment (including industrial and communication), and appliances;
\n\uf02d High voltage DC transmission system.
\nThis Standard does not apply to voltages representing or transmitting signals or measured values.
\nThis Standard does not apply to voltages of elements, components or parts used within electrical equipment.
\nNote 1: In this standard, AC voltage means the root mean square value (r.m.s.), while DC voltage is non-ripple direct voltage value.
\nNote 2: Test voltages, test conditions and acceptance criteria are required to be defined in the system and product standards.<\/p>\n
