This Standard specifies the general requirements, indication error and test specification of speed meters installed on the motor vehicles.<\/p>\n
This Standard applies to the speed meters for motor vehicles of categories M and N.<\/p>\n

3 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
3.1 The scale plate of speed meter shall be located within the direct field of vision of the driver and shall be clearly legible both at day and night.<\/p>\n
3.2 The range of speeds indicated by speed meter shall be able to include the maximum speed of this type of vehicle as stated by the manufacturer.<\/p>\n
3.3 The speed unit of speed meter shall be expressed in km\/h. The graduation shall be 1, 2, 5 or 10 km\/h, when the numerical value of the speed is between 20km\/h and the upper speed limit, the numerical value of the speed shall be indicated on the scale plate as follows:<\/p>\n
– when the highest value on the scale plate does not exceed 200 km\/h, speed values shall be indicated at intervals not exceeding 20 km\/h;<\/p>\n
– when the maximum value on the scale plate exceeds 200 km\/h, then the speed values shall be indicated at intervals not exceeding 30 km\/h.<\/p>\n
3.4 The indicated speed value intervals need not be uniform.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
4 INDICATION ERROR<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The speed indicated shall not be less than the true speed of the vehicle. At the test speeds specified in paragraph 5.5, the relationship between the indicated speed (V1) and the true speed (V2) shall meet the following formula:

5 TEST SPECIFICATION<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
5.1 The reference temperature at the speed meter for test shall be 23 \uf0b1 5\u00b0C.<\/p>\n
5.2 The tolerance of test instrumentation intended for speed measurement should be within \uf0b11.0%.<\/p>\n
5.3 The vehicle shall be tested in accordance with the following requirements:<\/p>\n
5.3.1 The test shall be carried out with the vehicle at its kerb mass.<\/p>\n
5.3.2 The pressure of the tyres shall be the normal running pressure, namely the cold inflation pressure specified by the vehicle manufacturer increased by 0.02 MPa.<\/p>\n
5.4 Other test conditions should comply with GB\/T 12534, the surface of a test track when used shall be flat and dry, and provide sufficient adhesion.<\/p>\n
5.5 The speed meter should be tested at speeds of 40km, 80 km\/h and 120 km\/h (in case of maximum design speed of the vehicle less than 150km\/h, take 80% of maximum design speed of the vehicle specified by the manufacturer ).<\/p>\n
