General Tolerances – Tolerances for linear and angular dimensions without individual tolerance indications

1 Scope
This Standard stipulates the tolerance class and limit deviations value of the general tolerance for linear and angular dimension without tolerance indications.
This Standard is applicable to the dimensions of metal machining and also suitable for the dimensions of ordinary stamping. The dimensions of nonmetal materials and other technological methods can adopt this Standard as a reference.
This Standard is only applicable to the following dimensions without tolerance indications:
a) Linear dimension (such as outer dimension, inner dimension, ladder dimension, diameter, radius, distance, rounding radius and chamfer height);
b) Angular dimension, including the angular dimension usually without angular value, such as right angle (90°); excepting for the angular value mentioned in GB 1184 or the value of polygon.
c) Linear and angular dimensions of the machining components.
This Standard is not suitable for the following dimension:
a) Linear and angular dimensions involved in other general tolerance standards;
b) Reference dimension in the brackets;
c) Theoretically exact dimension in rectangular frame space.
2 Normative references
The following normative documents contain provision which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this Standard. At the time of publication, the editions indicated are valid. All standards are subject to revision, and parties to agreements based on this Standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the Standards indicated below.

3 Definition
3.1 This Standard adopts relevant terminology and definition proposed by GB/T 1800.1.
3.2 General tolerances
General tolerances mean the warrantable tolerances under normal machining conditions in workshop. As for the dimension adopting general tolerances, it is unnecessary to indicate the limit deviations after this dimension.
Note: Appendix A (Informative) provides the concept and interpretation of the general tolerances.
