General Specifications of Gas Cylinder Valves

1 SCOPE

This Standard specifies the terms and definitions, specifications, type test, inspection, pass criteria, marking, packaging, transportation and storage as well as quality certificate of gas cylinder valves.
This Standard applies to the valves (hereinafter referred to as “valves”) intended to be fitted to transportable and refillable gas cylinders which convey compressed, liquefied or dissolved gases with a nominal operating pressure 30 MPa at an ambient temperature range of -40°C to +60°C.
This Standard doesn’t apply to the valves intended for cryogenic equipment, fire extinguishers, automotive liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders, automotive compressed natural gas (CNG) cylinders, breathing gas cylinders or non-refillable cylinders. This Standard also doesn’t cover the specific requirements for gas cylinder valves fitted with pressure-reducing devices, residual pressure-retaining devices or non-return devices.
