Safety belt reminder for motor vehicles

1     SCOPE

This document specifies the terms and definitions, requirements and test methods of the safety belt reminder for motor vehicles.

This document applies to the safety belt reminders for driver’s seating position and front-row (the same row as the driver) passenger’s seating position of motor vehicles in Categories M and N and the safety belt reminders for rear-row passenger’s seating position of motor vehicles in Categories M₁ and N₁, while the safety belt reminders for other seating positions may use this document as a reference.

3     TERMS AND DEFINITIONS

For the purpose of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.

3.1

First level warning

a visual warning activated when the ignition switch or master control switch is engaged (vehicle propulsion device running or not) by turning to “ON” or “READY” (or an equivalent state) and the safety-belt of any occupant in the vehicle is not fastened

Note: An audible warning can be added as an option.
