1 SCOPE

This standard specifies the measurement method and technical specification for PEMS test of exhaust pollutants from heavy-duty diesel and gas fueled vehicles, and is applicable to newly manufactured vehicles (NMV) emission compliance check and in-service conformity (ISC) check for heavy-duty diesel vehicles and gas-fueled vehicles that meet the Stage V requirements set out in GB 17691-2005.

This standard is applicable to the measurement of exhaust pollutants from vehicles of Categories M2, M3, N2 (excluding low-speed goods vehicles), and N3 equipped with a compression-ignition engine (CIE) or a gas-fueled positive-ignition engine (PIE) and with a design speed exceeding 25 km/h, as well as Category M1 vehicles with a gross mass exceeding 3,500 kg.

3 TERMS AND DEFINITIONS

For the purposes of this standard, the terms and definitions given in GB 17691-2005 and HJ 689-2014, as well as the following apply.

3.1 portable emissions measurement system (PEMS)

a complete set of emission testing systems which can be installed on the vehicle and can simultaneously measure the emission flow, pollutant concentrations, ambient temperature, humidity and atmospheric pressure, and measure or collect such parameters as engine speed, torque, load, longitude and latitude, and altitude in real time
