1 SCOPE

This standard specifies the technical requirements for in-service conformity (ISC) of the vehicle equipped with a compression-ignition engine (CIE) and its CIE and the vehicle equipped with a positive-ignition engine (PIE) fueled with natural gas (NG) or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and its PIE.

This standard is applicable for checking the in-service conformity of the vehicles of Categories M2, M3, N1, N2 and N3 with a design speed exceeding 25 km/h and the Category M1 vehicles with a gross mass exceeding 3,500 kg, as well as their CIEs (including gas-fueled PIEs) installed.

The vehicles of Categories N1 and M2 equipped with a CIE (including gas-fueled PIE) that have been subjected to the ISC check according to GB 18352.3-2005 “Limits and measurement methods for emissions from light-duty vehicles (III, IV)” may be exempted from this standard.

3 TERMS AND DEFINITIONS

For the purposes of this standard, the terms and definitions established in GB 17691, HJ 437-2008 “Technical specification for on-board diagnostic (OBD) system of compression ignition and gas fueled positive ignition engines of vehicles” and HJ 438-2008 “Durability of emission control systems of compression ignition and gas fueled positive ignition engines of vehicles” apply.
